Enduring To The End

It’s not often that I get to take the things that I absolutely love the most in the world and combine them with things that I absolutely hate the most in the world.  Usually when those two things happen it is related to Microsoft Windows in some form and it absolutely kills me for several days.  Well not this time, this time it pertains to a very positive turning point in my life I believe.  I have recently acquired a Wii Fit as well as a Nike+ iPod kit.  These two small sets of hardware have enabled me to combine something I love with something I used to hate and hopefully improve my life and have fun while doing it.

I must admit that there are several factors involved in my decision to start getting more healthy.  I decided to cut the majority of soda out of my life after my incident several months ago where I had 4 kidney stones and some major medical issues that were not very pleasant to go through.  But in addition to cutting out soda there needs to be more.  Something more substantial that will make it so I’m not having a heart attack before Paisley has even graduated high school.  So here is the list of things that has helped change my motivation for working out and getting healthy: Read the rest of this entry »

IE 8 Beta 1 supporting “Super Standards” Mode!!!

I don’t even know where to begin besides quickly _hoping_ that my job as a web developer will be considerably easier in another 2 to 5 years (once everyone finally gets around to upgrading). Of course this depends upon what Microsoft considers “Super Standards.” For all we know they could still be in “standards mode” but still mess up spacing in padding and margins enough that we’ll still be coding hacks for IE8 just as much as we did for IE7 (which is exponentially less than IE6 was coded/hacked for).

Anyway, I’ll encourage ANYONE who still uses IE to go ahead and try out IE 8 beta 1. Although, if you’re trying a new browser, I’d still recommend Firefox 3 beta 3 before IE 8 any day ;)

Here’s to hoping for an all-major-browsers compliant with standards society!

Making my digits exponential :)

Katie is a true geek. She doesn’t like to admit it, and she hasn’t fully adopted the habits of geekdom (note, she still gets ready before she goes out and she loves cute clothes). But she is a geek. And I love her for it.

A few Sundays ago at family dinner Katie gave me a tootsie roll. 99% of the population probably has no clue what the acronym on the wrapper of the tootsie roll meant, but Katie did. And not only did she know what it meant, but she gave it to me because I am her geek. I thought it was adorable and it truly did make my “digits exponential” as I like to say (just as an FYI, that can mean anything, e.g.: my heart jump with joy).

Anyway, here’s a low resolution photo of the tootsie roll before I embraced my inner geek and ate the joyous substance called candy in order to sustain my geeky figure ;)

Ironically, I made a comment on a family member’s blog tonight about the joys of WYSIWYG editors and how it inspired me to manage my own blog forever ago because I couldn’t handle Blogger’s WYSIWYG interface ;)
